Feeling Burnt Out? Try This Ancient Practice for Instant Peace
How Sabbath Can Help You Reset and Recharge in Just One Day
Good morning, my friends.
It’s been a big week in our house with a newborn, and let’s just say, rest hasn’t exactly been easy to come by. But as I’ve been balancing work and caring for our little one, it’s got me thinking more about the principle of Sabbath—something we all need more of, whether we have a newborn or not.
This Week’s Focus: Practicing the Sabbath in a Busy World
Here’s the truth: We live in a world that glorifies busyness, but God calls us to something different—He calls us to rest. Sabbath is more than just taking a day off; it’s about intentionally creating space for God to renew our hearts, minds, and bodies.
Why It Matters:
The Sabbath isn’t just a suggestion, it’s a rhythm that allows us to stop striving, trust God, and let Him restore us. By honoring this rhythm, we’re reminded that we’re not the ones holding everything together—God is.
Action Step:
How do we actually live this out when our to-do lists are never-ending? Here are three simple ways to practice Sabbath this week, no matter how crazy life gets:
Start Small: Pick one day this week to set aside a few hours for intentional rest. Use this time to step away from work and distractions and focus on God’s presence.
Unplug: For the next 24 hours, limit your screen time (scary, I know). Put your phone on "Do Not Disturb," turn off your notifications, and give yourself space to just be with God.
Reflect: At the end of your Sabbath, take a moment to reflect on what God is speaking to you. Ask yourself, "What is God showing me through rest?" Jot it down, even if it’s just a sentence or two.
Why it works:
Sabbath invites us into a deeper trust in God’s provision. When we step back from our busyness and make space for Him, we’re reminded that His grace sustains us—not our own efforts. Over time, this practice will help you find a rhythm of peace that lasts throughout your week.
